Why this asks for money
There is no company behind Save Image As Type. It has no ads, sells nothing, and injects nothing into the pages you visit. That is a deliberate choice, and donations are what make it a sustainable one rather than a temporary one.

What it pays for
Running an extension across three stores is cheap, but it is not free.
The domain
imageastype.com, renewed every year.
Store developer accounts
One-off registration fees to publish on the Chrome, Firefox and Edge add-on stores.
Delivery for the contact form, so a bug report actually reaches someone.
Time
The largest cost by far, and the one donations cannot really cover. Fixing a site that broke conversion, answering mail, shipping a release to three stores.
What it will never pay for
The point of donations is that none of the usual alternatives are on the table.
- No ads, anywhere in the extension or on this site.
- No affiliate links injected into pages you visit. That is what got the original extension removed.
- No selling or sharing your data. Image conversion is local and your images never leave your device.
- No paywalled features. Nothing that works today gets moved behind a payment later.
